The Latin American Clinical Neurophysiology Societies have participated with the IFCN from its very beginnings. During the early 50´s of the 20th Century, the South American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, a multinational group integrated by several LA countries, was admited to the IFCN as an Affiliated Society. In 1993, the IFCN General Assembly accepted the rules and establishment of Regional Chapters and in 1995 the Latin American Chapter began its academic activities with the first LAC Congress.
Since that date the Chapter has grown, evolved and gained recognition as a scientific organization and as an important part of the IFCN. By this days the respectives Organizing and Scientific Committees are preparing the IVth Latin American Symposium on Intraoperatory Neurophysiological Monitoring at Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2013 and the VIIth Latin American Congress of Clinical Neurophysiology, to be held at Cartagena de Indias, Colombia in 2015. Several of our main goals have being covered partial or totally, however the work will be continued to achieve research, improve the quality of medical education and establishment of guidelines and parameters for the practice of Clinical Neurophysiology. Our greatest dream and goal will always be to integrate all and everyone of the National Clinical Neurophysiology Societies in LA to the IFCN and of course, the LAC.
