Training Courses

The Latin American Chapter of the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology has no training courses in Clinical Neurophysiology sponsored by itself; however, training of new young specialist depends on residency programs with particular features for each country. As an example, here is presented the Mexican Residency Program in Clinical Neurophysiology sponsored by Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and held at several Public and Private Health System hospitals, all of them in México City:

The residency program in Clinical Neurophysiology in México is a two year training course taken after concluding complete Neurology, Audiology or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residencies. The complete program can be consulted at http://132.248.160.169/programas/neurofisio_clinica.pdf within the UNAM’s Unique Plan of Medical Specializations (PUEM). The residency program is designed for national and also foreign applicants depending on the hospital specific conditions. The hospitals that currently offer a Clinical Neurophysiology residency are:

It is pertinent to clarify that scholarships for foreign students are very few or even do not exist at all. The best oportunity to get a place in Mexican health system is having a scholarsip from the origin country. An open invitation is made to other Latin-American Countries with formal and well structurated Clinical Neurophysiology residency/universitary courses, to send program links and contact e-mail adresses, to make this section richer with real options for young physicians interested in our beautiful medical discipline.
